Covid-19 Travel Requirements

�Can I travel to St. Kitts and Nevis?
Yes. As of October 31, 2020, St. Kitts and Nevis re-opened borders for international travel. The Federation has identified two categories of travelers: those arriving by air and those arriving by sea. Those arriving by air are divided into subcategories including: International Travelers (Non-Nationals/Non-Residents) and Nationals/Residents.

Effective May 29, 2021, only fully-vaccinated travelers will be allowed to travel to St. Kitts and Nevis. Non-vaccinated children under the age of 18 accompanied by fully-vaccinated parents or guardians will also be allowed. Citizens and Residents are exempt. ï¿½

Which countries are included among the international traveler category?
Travelers from the Caribbean, the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, Africa, South America. Please note that visitors from the UK, Brazil, India, and South Africa are not permitted to travel to St. Kitts and Nevis. Only returning nationals or residents of St. Kitts and Nevis from UK, South Africa, India, or Brazil will be permitted to enter the Federation.

Please note, St. Kitts & Nevis officially exited the CARICOM “travel bubble” and all visitors from these countries and all other Caribbean countries are subject to the same requirements as all International Travelers.

Will I need to have taken a COVID-19 test before traveling?
Yes, all travelers to St. Kitts and Nevis are required to submit a negative Nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test result from a CLIA/CDC/UKAS accredited lab taken prior to 72 hours of travel. This includes all persons who have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Are children required to submit a negative Covid-19 test? If so, from what age.
All travelers are required to submit a negative Nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test, babies included.

What are the accredited lab criteria for COVID-19 testing?
All Nasopharyngeal RT-PCR tests must be taken at laboratories which have an ISO/IEC 17025 standard. Those traveling from the U.S. should look for laboratories that are CLIA-certified (CDC approved) and those from the UK should refer to UKAS approved labs.

Are COVID-19 at Home kit test results acceptable?
No. Only Nasopharyngeal RT-PCR tests administered by a medical professional and from an accredited lab are acceptable.

What type of Covid-19 Test does the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis accept?

Currently, the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis only accepts the Nasopharyngeal type of RT-PCR test.

Can I submit a negative rapid Antigen test submitted 72 hours before, instead of a negative RT-PCR test?
No. Only Nasopharyngeal RT-PCR tests from an accredited lab are accepted in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Can I submit a negative lab summary 72 hours before, instead of an official negative Nasopharyngeal test report?
No. You will have to contact the lab that processed your  Nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test and request an official lab report.

What is the health and safety protocols visitors are required to follow while in St. Kitts and Nevis?
Visitors are required to follow basic health and safety protocols of frequent handwashing and or sanitizing, observe physical distancing, and wearing masks. Persons age 6 and older must wear masks at all times, children under age 6 are not required to wear a mask.

What forms do I need to complete?
All incoming passengers to St. Kitts and Nevis must complete and submit an entry form which includes a Custom, Border and Health Entry Form at: knatravelform.kn. Once the form is submitted and reviewed, each visitor will receive a letter of approval to visit the Federation. This letter must be presented to the gate agent when boarding the plane at your departure point.

Returning Nationals, Residents, CSME certificate holders and work permit holders who wish to quarantine at home must apply for pre-approved home quarantine at: covid19.gov.kn.

What is the lead time between submission of email and receiving approval/refusal of request?
Forty-eight hours (48 hours).

Submission of accommodation/hotel reservation, will be verified before approval is granted.

Is it possible to travel without or while awaiting an approval email?
No. Travelers are advised not to travel without receipt of approval. The letter of approval is required in order to board a flight to St. Kitts & Nevis.

Fully-Vaccinated Travelers

Do I still need to submit a negative RT-PCR Test?
All incoming travelers to St. Kitts and Nevis are required to submit a negative Nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test result from a CLIA/CDC/UKAS accredited lab taken within 72 hours of travel. This includes all persons who have received their COVID-19 vaccine.

I am fully vaccinated but my children have not taken the COVID-19 vaccine. Can they still come to St. Kitts and Nevis?
Yes. Children can still travel to St. Kitts and Nevis but will need to have a negative Nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test which must be uploaded to their parents KNA Travel Entry form.

Do I still need to complete the KNA Travel Form?
Yes. All incoming travelers to St. Kitts and Nevis must complete and submit their KNA Travel Entry form and upload a negative nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test.

��Under what circumstances might I be required to quarantine in St. Kitts?
All non-vaccinated guests will be required to quarantine up to the first 14 days of their visit, either at a pre-approved property, government facility or approved hotel. Those staying at hotels approved for International Travelers will be asked to “vacation in place” for the first 7 days of their stay. On the 7th day, they will submit to a Nasopharyngeal test, and if it returns negative on day 8, they will be able to participate in select tours and excursions which can be booked through the hotel’s tour desk.

Fully- vaccinated travelers will be asked to “vacation in place” for three (3) days. On the 4th day, they will submit to a Nasopharyngeal test, and if it returns negative will be able to integrate into the Federation participating in tours, attractions, restaurants, beach bars, retail shopping, etc.

Those non-vaccinated visitors staying more than 14 days, will be tested on day 14.

All visitors are required to undergo serial testing during their time in St. Kitts & Nevis. If they test positive, they may be subject to a 2-week quarantine at their expense.

I’m traveling from a high-risk area. Does that automatically mean I’ll need to be tested on arrival?
All visitors are considered as arriving from an area of significant risk. Testing is not required on arrival, however, if the person exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 during their health screening, or the agent has any reason to believe the visitor’s test results are fabricated or outdated, then the visitor will be required to take a Nasopharyngeal test at their own expense.

�Can an elderly person who requires assistance travel to St. Kitts and Nevis unattended?
No. All elderly persons who require assistance are required to travel with a travel companion, as this person will not be allowed to quarantine alone.

What are the requirements for the persons traveling with special needs?�
A person with special needs must travel with a companion as this person will not be allowed to quarantine alone. If you are traveling with a person with special needs, you are required to alert the Office of the CMO by sending an email to healthittech@gov.kn.

Are persons below age 18 (children) allowed to travel unattended?
No.  All persons below age 18 are required to travel with an adult as children will not be allowed to quarantine alone.

����Do I need to present my negative COVID-19 Nasopharyngeal test on arrival?
Yes. We ask that each traveler has a printed copy of their negative COVID-19 Nasopharyngeal test visible before disembarkation. Your test will be validated upon arrival. The results must be in English.

Do I need to present my Vaccination Card upon arrival?
Yes. You must present your vaccination card to the Health desk upon arrival to St. Kitts and Nevis

Is there a cost for the test if I am asked to do one on arrival?
Yes. The cost is $100 USD for Nationals/Residents and $150 USD for Non-Nationals/Non-Residents. Payments for testing can be done via credit card.

How quickly are the results returned if I am tested on arrival?
Results are returned in less than 24 hours after the test has been administered.

Where will I be asked to wait prior to and after testing when awaiting results?
Visitors will be escorted to the Isolation Station at the airport, to await testing. After testing, visitors will be escorted to their selected hotel, where they will be isolated while awaiting results.

If the test is given at the airport and I test positive, what happens?
If a visitor tests positive at the airport, the health officials stationed at the Airport will decide whether the visitor needs to be warded at the JNF Hospital or isolated at his/her accommodations. All pre-approved hotels have a designated isolation area.

If I test positive on arrival, can I elect to go home on the first available flight?
No. Visitors who test positive on arrival will go into isolation for 14 days, after receiving a negative Nasopharyngeal  test on the 14th day they will be able to leave the destination.

Do I need to wear a mask while I’m in the airport?
Yes. Masks are required to be worn upon arrival and departure at the airport and should remain on at all times while in the airport.

How will my luggage be handled?
Your luggage will be sanitized before being placed on the conveyor belt for you to claim.

How do I get from the airport to my accommodations?
Incoming passengers will be transported to their accommodations via Travel Approved taxi operators who have been certified by the St. Kitts or Nevis Tourism Authority via the “Travel Approved”program. Each vehicle must have a visible “St. Kitts & Nevis Travel Approved Seal” on its windshield.

Only “St. Kitts & Nevis Travel Approved” vehicles can collect passengers upon arrival at the airport. Please note that all incoming travelers to the destination must have taxi fare.

How do Health Officials decide who needs further testing on arrival?
Further testing will be decided by Health Officials upon arrival as a result of the following:

• lf a traveler’s Nasopharyngeal test is outdated or falsified
• If the guest exhibits symptoms of COVID-19

� All travelers are required to cover the cost for Nasopharyngeal tests.

What is the process for transportation between airport and non-hotel accommodations?
Airport dispatchers will assign “St. Kitts and Nevis Travel Approved” taxi operators, who are readily available at the RLB International Airport and hotels.

How have taxi operations at the ports of entry changed?
Only taxi operators who have been certified with the “St. Kitts and Nevis Travel Approved” certification and seal can transport passengers.

All taxi vehicles are equipped with either a plexiglass or Velcro plastic divider which separates guests from the driver.

Vehicles are outfitted with hand sanitizers, disinfectant wipes, and extra masks stored in a sterile place. Signage noting physical distancing are also displayed.

All passengers and the driver are required to wear a mask for the duration of the trip.

What are the requirements for international travelers who wish to stay at a non-hotel accommodation, e.g. private homes, Airbnb, villas, etc.
International travelers who wish to stay at a private rental home or condo must stay at a property that has been pre-approved as a “vacation in place” housing at their own cost including security.

Please submit an email to info@stkittstourism.kn with the following information; passenger name, exact travel dates, name and address of non-hotel accommodation and name of the manager/owner of the property.

Which Travel Approved accommodations are for Returning Nationals and Residents?
The approved accommodations for the 14-day quarantine include:

1. Ocean Terrace Inn (OTI) (currently unavailable)
2. Oualie Beach Resort
3. Potworks
4. Bird Rock Apartment Complex
5. Ocean's Edge Resort
6. Koi Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton

Returning nationals and residents may also opt to stay in pre-approved quarantine housing at their own cost, including appropriate security.

Do you have re-opening dates for all hotels?
Re-opening dates for the approved hotels will be announced as available.

Will I be required to wear a mask while at approved accommodations?
Yes. Guests are required to wear mask at all times in all public areas at approved accommodations

What are the requirements for visiting family and friends and staying at their residence?
Travelers visiting family and friends will not be allowed to “vacation in place” at the residence of family and friends. International travelers will need to “vacation in place” at one of the properties approved for accepting non-vaccinated international travelers and avoid all interactions with family and friends up to 14 days while fully-vaccinated travelers will avoid all interactions with family and friends once testing negative on day 4.

Nationals and residents may stay at the approved accommodations outlined or may also opt for pre-approved quarantine and pay for security facility/fees.

After 14 days and a negative COVID-19 test result,  non-vaccinated travelers will be allowed to interact and stay with family and friends. After 3 days and a negative COVID-19 test result on day 4, fully- vaccinated travelers will be allowed to interacr and stay with family and friends.

������What precautions are recommended while on-island?
For your health and safety, please wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash your hands every hour and sanitize every 30 minutes, follow all protocols while engaged in island tours, and have your own personal hand sanitizer with you at all times.

What should I do if I start to feel sick?
Should you feel as if you are showing signs of COVID-19, please do the following:

1. If you are staying at a hotel or government facility, please stay in your room and contact the front desk via telephone for immediate medical assistance and instructions.
2. If you are staying at a pre-approved private property, please contact your preferred medical practitioner via telephone for immediate assistance and instructions.

Where are the on-island testing for travelers conducted?
On-island testing for travelers is conducted on the hotel property at the designated nurse’s station. The Ministry of Health will advise the respective hotel, of the date and time for the traveler’s required exit Nasopharyngeal test before departure. The cost for the Nasopharyngeal test for Non-nationals is USD $150 and for Nationals USD $100.

When will travelers be allowed to explore and experience the island?
Non-vaccinated travelers will be tested on the 7th day. Once non-vaccinated travelers receive a negative test on the 8th day, travelers will be allowed to explore the island via pre- approved tours, which will be offered at the excursions desk at their hotel.

Fully- vaccinated travelers will be tested on the 4th day. Once fully-vaccinated travelers receive a negative test result on the 4th day, those travelers will be allowed to integrate into the Federation.

Can I visit restaurants during my "Vacation in Place" 1- 3 days or 8 to 14 days?
No.  Non-vaccinated travelers can only use restaurants on their approved hotel property or use an approved restaurant delivery service from a restaurant that provides delivery service for stays less than 14 days.

Fully-vaccinated travelers can only use restaurants on their approved hotel property or an approved restauarant delivery service from a restaurant that provides delivery service for stays less than 4 days. Post a negative test result on day 4, fully-vaccinated travelers are allowed to visit restaurants off-property.

Are twin island stays allowed?
Twin island stays are only permitted once a traveler has “vacationed in place” at their first accommodation option- non-vaccinated travelers for 14 days and have tested negative; fully-vaccinated travelers for 3 days and have tested negative on the 4th day.

Can I split my stay between two properties on St. Kitts or Nevis?
Split vacation stays are not permitted at vacation in place properties once a traveler has “vacationed in place” at their first accommodation. Visitors will not be allowed to move to another vacation in place property even if they have tested negative after their 4 day (fully-vaccinated) or 14 day (non-vaccinated) stay.

Will I be able to leave my accommodations to explore the island?
Once non-vaccinated travelers have received a negative Nasopharyngeal test on day 8 of their stay, they will be able to explore the island via pre-approved activities from the excursion desk at their Travel Approved hotel.

Fully- vaccinated travelers who receive a negative Nasopharyngeal test on day 4 of their stay, they will be able to integrate into the Federation to explore the island. 

Do I need to wear a mask on the beach in St. Kitts and Nevis?
No. Visitors are not required to wear a mask on the beach or while swimming. However, one is encouraged to practice social distancing while at the beach.

In addition, all guests visiting beach bars and restaurants are required to wear a mask, sanitize their hands, and receive temperature checks upon entrance.

Will I be able to rent a car?
Rental car options are available to non-vaccinated persons who have “vacationed in place” for 14 days with a negative Nasopharyngeal test and for fully-vaccinated persons who have "vacationed in place" for 3 days with a negative Nasopharyngeal test on the 4th day.

If I am visiting St. Kitts, can I travel to Nevis?
 Non-vaccinated International Travelers are only permitted to travel to Nevis after they have “vacationed in place” for 14 days and have a negative Nasopharyngeal test. Fully-vaccinated International Travelers may travel to Nevis after they have "vacationed in place" for 3 days and have a negative Nasopharyngeal test on day 4.

If I am staying in St. Kitts, can I travel to Nevis for an excursion?
 Non-vaccinated International Travelers are only permitted to travel for an excursion to Nevis after they have "vacationed in place" for 14 days and have a negative Nasopharyngeal test. Fully-vaccinated International Travelers may travel for an excursion to Nevis after they have "vacationed in place" for 3 days and have a negative Nasopharyngeal test on the 4th day.

Are land-based and water-based excursions open?
Not at this time.

Are restaurants open?
Yes. Restaurants are open but not available for in-person dining to non-vaccinated persons who have not "vacationed in place" for 14 days and have a negative Nasopharyngeal test result, or for fully-vaccinated persons who have not “vacation in place” for 3 days and have a negative Nasopharyngeal test result on the 4th day. Select restaurants do have delivery service which is available to all travelers.

Is there a curfew in place?
Yes. A curfew is action from 9:00pm to 5:00am local time effective July 12th for 14 days.

Fully Vaccinated Travelers

Do I still need to quarantine or "Vacation in Place"?
Yes. As of Jul 12, The Ministry of Health on St. Kitts and Nevis has reduced the quarantine or "Vacation in Place" days from 9 to 3 days for fully- vaccinated persons. If you are on island for more than 3 days, you will get tested on day 4 and once your results are negative, you are free to integrate into St. Kitts and Nevis

My children are unvaccinated, will they be allowed to explore St. Kitts and Nevis with me after 3 days?
Yes. Non-vaccinated children traveling with fully- vaccinated parents will observe the same quarantine or "Vacation in Place" period as their parents. 

Can I move from one Travel Approved property to another Travel Approved property after testing negative on day 3?
No. Fully- vaccinated persons cannot move from one Travel Approved property to another Travel Approved property. However, they are free to move to any other property that is not on the Travel Approved property listing after testing negative on day 4.

����What are the protocols for departing travelers leaving St. Kitts and Nevis, and has the check-in time changed?
All departing travelers will be required to wear a mask and administered a temperature check upon arrival at the Airport. They will also be asked to sanitize and observe all social distancing protocols displayed in the Departures Area.

If I need to have a Nasopharyngeal test done before I depart St. Kitts and Nevis, where can I have this done and what is the cost?
All visitors staying less than 7 nights are required to take an exit COVID-19 Nasopharyngeal test at least 72 hours prior to departure. The Nasopharyngeal  test will be done on the hotel property, at the nurse’s station. The Ministry of Health will advise the respective hotel, of the date and time for the traveler’s Nasopharyngeal test before departure.

The cost is $150 USD for Non-Nationals/Non-Residents and $100 USD for Nationals/Residents.

If I am not staying at a hotel and have been on island for more than 14 days and need to have a Departure COVID-19 test done, where do I go?

All travelers who are visiting St. Kitts and Nevis for three days or less will have their departure Nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test sample collected at the airport upon arrival to St. Kitts. Test results will be presented to departing travelers prior to their departure.

Fully-Vaccinated Travelers

Am I still required to take a RT-PCR test for departure?
A fully-vaccinated traveler is not required to take an exit departure RT-PCR Test. However, if your port of disembarkation requires a RT-PCR test for entry. Please alert the front desk 72 hours prior to your departure so that testing can be arranged.

���I plan to get married in St. Kitts and Nevis. How many guests am I allowed to have at my wedding?
The number of guests allowed to attend any event will be determined by the size of the venue.

What are the protocols surrounding weddings and events outside of hotels?
Weddings and events outside of the hotel can only be attended by non-vaccinated persons who have successfully completed their 14 day “vacation in place” and fully-vaccinated persons who have successfully completed their 9 day "vacation in place." All must have a negative Nasopharyngeal test result. Please see guidelines below for hosting events A request has to be made to the Commissioner of Police, with information on the following:

• Number of guest
• Venue size
• Outline of COVID-19 protocols which will be implemented

Organizers must receive approval before the event can be promoted or advertised.

Will tourists be allowed to leave the hotel property to complete the legal process for marriage at another location?
Non-vaccinated tourists are only allowed to leave the property after successfully completing a 14 day “vacation in place” period with a negative Nasopharyngeal test result. Fully-vaccinated tourists are only allowed to leave the property after successfully completing a 9 day "vacation in place" period with a negative Nasopharyngeal test result.

We recommend that visitors contract the services of a local wedding planner to make all arrangements.

Will guest numbers be based on venue size - as has been the case for churches and funerals on island?
Yes.

What are expected of the guests once at an event? Are guests expected to wear masks as well as adhering to the social distancing protocols?
Once at an event, all guest are expected to do the following:

• Sanitize upon arrival
• Receive temperature checks upon arrival
• Wear a mask
• Adhere to social distancing protocol

What does "fully- vaccinated" mean?
People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna or AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccines and two weeks after a single-dose vaccine such as Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine.

What type of vaccines are accepted by the Ministry of Health of St. Kitts and Nevis?
The Ministry of Health of St. Kitts and Nevis accepts the following four vaccines: AstraZeneca/Oxford, Johnson & Johnson/ Janssen, Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech.

What should I do if I begin to display COVID-19 symptoms?
For travelers who begin to feel or display COVID-19 symptoms, they should contact the nurses’ station at their hotel immediately. For returning nationals and residents, contact your doctor’s office or call 311 immediately.

If I would like to stay for less than 4 days, can I leave?
No. You will be required to "Vacation in Place" for the days you are visiting. You will not be allowed to visit any attractions, sites or restaurants before you depart and you will be required to take an exit Nasopharyngeal test at least 72 hours prior to departure at your own expense.

Can a fully-vaccinated traveler quarantine or "Vacation in Place" with an non-vaccinated traveler and leave the property after testing negative on day 4 while the non-vaccinated traveler remains at the property?

No, both the fuly-vaccinated and non-vaccinated travelers will have to quarantine or "Vacation in Place" for 14 days before they are free to integrate into St. Kitts and Nevis. If the vaccinated traveler wants to integrate into St. Kitts and Nevis after 3 days, they will have to quarantine or "Vacation in Place" separately from the non-vaccinated traveler.

What are the procedures that visiting yachts should adhere to?
Please see procedures below for Passengers arriving vis Sea (Private Vessels and Yachts):

1. Complete the Travel Authorization Form on the national website (knatravelform.kn) and submit proof of a negative Nasopharyngeal test from an accredited laboratory.
2. The vessel will be required to dock at one of six ports, submit the Maritime Declaration of Health to the port health officer and interact with other border agencies. The six ports are: The Deepwater Port, Port Zante, Christophe Harbor, New Guinea (St. Kitts Marine Works), Charlestown Pier and Long Point Port.
3. These travelers will be processed accordingly and will vacation in place or quarantine as previously outlined. The prescribed quarantine time will be determined by the vessels or ships transit time from the last port of call to their arrival to the Federation. Transit time must be supported by official documentation and sail clear advance notification system.
4. Yachts and pleasure over 80 feet must be quarantined at Christophe Harbor in St. Kitts. Yachts and pleasure vessels less than 80 feet have not yet been approved for docking.
